Me and The Rev used to ride our bikes around town and sing songs and be into that.

Jimmy “The Rev” Sullivan and M Shadows celebrate a job well done

“We’re going to celebrate his birthday [February 9] and not necessarily his death. But I think I’ll want to get together [with the rest of the band] and watch his tribute video and talk about him. We do that every day anyway but [today] I just want to keep it chilled and remember the guy for how awesome he was.”

“I think one of my favorite things that we used to do was screw around with him on stage, like, to look at him and make faces and if it was a bad show, I’d say, like, ‘Get me outta here!’ and he was like, ‘Me too!’ like ‘This show sucks!’ or be like ‘This rocks!’ and y’know we were just 2 kids, or 5 kids, living out our dreams so it was fun to screw around on stage and we’d always come up with silly things to do like he’d throw his drumstick to me and I’d catch it and throw it back around my head. And then he’d catch it and play the rest of the song, it was just fun to do stuff like that on stage so, there’s a million memories though, I mean, just every day stuff that I wouldn’t be able to pull one outta those out.”

The Origin Story - how they met & became musical soulmates

successfulfailure:

Today, I wanted to make one post; not out of necessity, but out of importance. Importance to me, at least. I didn’t want it to be just a standard photo post with paragraphs on end about one of my five heroes, but it’s hard to make these posts anything else.
Everything I could say about Jimmy has been said within the last year; and in fact within the entirety of the time I have been an Avenged Sevenfold fan. To find the words that would even begin to cover such a wonderful human being seems like the hardest task in the world—and if I’m being honest, I’m done trying to find those words that will never come.
The bottom line is, I know exactly how I feel about this man. I know exactly how much his life has affected mine, and in turn, I know how much his death has affected me. I can’t speak for anyone else on this behalf, because I only know my own feelings; but at the end of the day, this isn’t about me. This is about him and his legacy. I can only remember his life like I knew it—through his music and through his best friends.
As for the image I’m accompanying this post with; I made this specifically for the gif. It’s how I remember him the most. Jimmy, playing his drums, with that beautiful fucking smile on his face. They say photos speak a thousand words; well, my hope is that this says a thousand more.
Rest In Peace, Jimmy, foREVer.‘They say that all beauty must die, I say it just moves on.’
